Uber is introducing a series of features to its grocery delivery service to provide more convenience for consumers and merchant partners.
Together with the Latin America-based grocery delivery platform, Cornershop, Uber has recently made its most comprehensive update to its grocery delivery service which includes customers being able to place orders from grocery stores even after business hours and schedule deliveries, track their orders from store shelves to their homes, select product replacements, and shop for items by weight.
"And with more and more people relying on grocery delivery in their busy lives these days, we’ll continue investing in product development and new features that prioritize ease, convenience and reliability—not just for consumers but for merchants and shoppers too," Uber stated on their website. "This summer merchants and shoppers who use Uber will see improved capabilities like barcode scanning, more efficient inventory management, easier options for adding item images, and new real-time support to fix any issues that come up—in real-time."
Via Uber Eats customers will be able to place orders from grocery stores past the store hours with delivery in the first available window or scheduled at their convenience. They can also schedule deliveries in advance.
There would also be a live-tracking order that is available to the customer from the time the item has been scanned and added to their cart for checkout, paid, and when delivery is on the way.
Uber introduced grocery delivery in 2020 and has worked with Cornershop since then, expanding Uber Eats with nearly 24,000 grocery stores around the globe. Currently, Uber grocery delivery is available in 33 countries.
