Uber applauds its exceptional drivers in its first-ever 'yearbook.'
Uber Yearbook Class of 2022 has been recently released by the company to recognize drivers who have made an amazing impact on their customers and in their community.
"Everyone has that Uber ride they remember – when the driver played your favorite tunes, or talked you through a tough breakup, or gave you the confidence you needed to ace an interview," Carrol Chang, Global Head of Driver & Courier Operations, wrote in an Uber news. "And we all know there’s nothing like getting your favorites delivered to your doorstep – perhaps your Monday routine wouldn’t be the same without mac & cheese, or you saved the party with a clutch champagne delivery, or a courier helped you surprise your bestie with birthday cupcakes from 3,000 miles away."
Some of the people being celebrated by Uber are Upstate, N.Y. driver Bruce Smith; Tammy Rivera from Memphis, Tenn.; and New York City driver Fritz Sam.
Smith recorded the longest Uber ride of the year where he drove two people, two cats, and eight suitcases 1,377 miles from New York to Florida.
Rivera was recognized for being a "beloved community member." She, "During COVID, brought hospital workers meals from local restaurants for 300 NIGHTS IN A ROW," Uber stated.
Uber found its "hometown hero" in Sam. While he was driving his passenger to LaGuardia Airport, they saw a fire going on and asked his passenger if it was okay to pull over, which the passenger confirmed. Sam ran into the building that was on fire in Brooklyn and was able to help a lady on the staircase get out of the building. "[Fritz] went above and beyond to keep his neighbors in New York safe — and still managed to get his rider to the airport on time," an Uber spokesperson said in a statement, MSN reported. Sam has been an Uber driver since 2015.
