A customer in Sydney gave a one-star rating to an Uber employee for reporting a suspicious package that contained two grams of crystal methamphetamine to the police.

The package was found to contain an illegal substance. The employee, who is also a full-time educator, expressed her dissatisfaction with the way Uber handled the incident and expressed her frustration with the company. The employee acknowledged receipt of the shipment through Uber Connect, the company's parcel delivery service that was introduced in Australia in the year 2020. During the second shift she worked for Uber Eats, she picked up an order from a restaurant that was contained within a plastic bag that was secured with a black zip tie. The worker had an immediate feeling that something wasn't quite right, so she inquired about the contents of the package. The staff of the restaurant responded with "Toothpaste."

Despite this, the employee canceled the order, which had a total cost of 16 Australian Dollars, and took the package to the police station. According to the accusations, the employee of the restaurant called the woman while she was on her way and verbally abused her. The worker was given a rating of one star because the delivery could not be made. Even after a week had passed since the delivery, the customer and the one-star review were still visible on the app, but the worker had still not been paid for the delivery. She made an attempt to phone Uber Eats but was unable to receive a response, so she reported the situation using an online form instead.

The worker did not get an apology or remuneration for the delivery until The Sydney Morning Herald contacted Uber. It was also only after The Sydney Morning Herald contacted Uber that the delivery was refunded. Additionally, the one-star review was removed, and Uber stated that "appropriate internal actions have been taken" in response to the customer who left it. The employee voiced her dissatisfaction with how Uber handled the situation after the occurrence. She announced that she will no longer be working for the company after making a complaint on behalf of those individuals who rely on Uber as their primary source of income.
