Uber has announced the launch of a new feature, the Emission Savings feature, in the Uber app to help riders track and learn more about their carbon emissions impact. In a statement released by Uber, they highlighted the importance of empowering riders to make greener choices and celebrate their environmental impact.

According to Uber, the Emission Savings feature allows riders to see the emissions they have saved by taking Uber Green and Uber Comfort Electric. In addition, riders can also visualize their emission savings in comparison to other examples and understand how these savings are calculated.

In a statement, Uber mentioned, "We believe that knowledge is power. Just like we popularized rider ratings in an effort to promote respectful behavior during Uber rides, we’re excited to launch this new feature to both celebrate your impact and encourage greener choices when using Uber."

The company also emphasized its commitment to becoming a zero-emissions mobility platform and mentioned that this new feature is a significant step in informing riders about the positive impact they are making in their communities. Uber expressed gratitude to riders for choosing greener options, stating that "Greener choices mean a greener future, so thank you for doing your part!"

Among the new initiatives introduced, Uber will be making the Emission Savings feature available for Uber teen account holders and launching Uber Green and Uber Comfort Electric for teen riders in select cities. The company also revealed plans to expand the feature to include more products in the emission savings calculation, such as all-electric autonomous rides, trips with UberX Share, and rides on e-bikes and e-scooters booked through the Uber app.

Uber's vision for the future of transportation includes electric, shared, and autonomous options, with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact. The company aims to encourage riders to make environmentally conscious choices and be part of the solution towards a greener future.

The Emission Savings feature is currently available in various cities for teen accounts, including Austin, Boston, Chicago, Montreal, New York City, Toronto, and Vancouver, among others. Riders in these cities can now access the feature and track their carbon emissions savings when using Uber Green and Uber Comfort Electric.
