Uber has recently introduced Live Location Sharing on Uber Eats, a feature designed to enhance the delivery experience for both couriers and consumers. The new functionality aims to facilitate smoother drop-offs, particularly in outdoor locations such as parks and playgrounds, where navigation can be challenging.

According to Divya Dalapathi, Director of Product Management at Uber, the implementation of Live Location Sharing is set to provide consumers with greater reliability in their deliveries. Dalapathi expressed excitement about the new feature, stating, "We’re thrilled to bring location sharing to Uber Eats and help consumers ensure greater reliability with every delivery they receive."

The process is simple: when a customer selects a "meet outside" or "meet at door" option on Uber Eats, their location will be shared with the courier when they are three minutes away and within 100m of the drop-off point. Once the order is delivered, the location sharing ceases. Users also have the ability to opt out of sharing their location if desired.

Dalapathi highlighted the significance of Live Location Sharing for consumers ordering from complex locations such as office buildings, parks, and large apartment complexes. The feature, originally launched on Uber rides with success, is now available on Uber Eats globally, with the exception of Quebec.

As the spring season approaches and outdoor gatherings become more common, the introduction of Live Location Sharing on Uber Eats comes as a timely and practical solution for ensuring efficient and reliable food deliveries in diverse settings.
