Airbnb announced a partnership with Americares to provide hosts with resources for extreme weather preparedness. The program includes free carbon monoxide and smoke alarms for active hosts to enhance safety.

According to Airbnb, the company has equipped over 250,000 hosts worldwide with alarms through its safety initiative. The program also introduces updated pool safety guidelines, which include installing pool fences and updating listing descriptions to inform guests about safety measures. U.S. hosts with pools are being offered discounted pool gates to enhance safety, reflecting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) findings that such fences can significantly reduce drowning risks for children.

In partnership with Americares, Airbnb is providing hosts with resources for preparing their properties for extreme weather. These resources, available in over 60 languages, include tips on displaying emergency information, updating listing details with weather-related advice, and maintaining properties to prevent damage. Hosts are also encouraged to stock emergency kits with essentials to ensure both they and their guests are prepared for weather emergencies.

"As travelers embark on their summer vacations, our team continues to work hard to help them have added peace of mind so they can focus on enjoying their trips. Partnering with Americares supports our efforts to help guests and hosts feel equipped with the resources they need to have great stays," said Tara Bunch, global head of operations at Airbnb.

Founded in 2007, Airbnb boasts over 5 million Hosts who have welcomed over 1.5 billion guest arrivals across nearly every country globally. Hosts offer stays and experiences to foster connections between guests and communities worldwide. As of December 31, 2023, Airbnb has had over 7.7 million active listings in 100,000 cities and towns across 220 countries and regions.
