Airbnb announced its US Latin and Hispanic Travelers Report, highlighting that this demographic expects to increase its annual leisure trips. Additionally, over half of US Latin and Hispanic travelers consider Airbnb or short-term rentals for their accommodations.
The Latin and Hispanic community comprises nearly 20% of the population and is expected to surpass $2.5 trillion in spending power by 2025. According to a survey commissioned by Airbnb, this demographic is projected to increase leisure travel by 10% and spend an additional $180 per trip, potentially leading to an estimated economic impact of $165 billion in 2025.
According to the report, 54% of Latin and Hispanic travelers consider short-term rentals like Airbnb for leisure trips, compared to 42% of non-Latin travelers. Family visits are the primary reason for travel for 61% of this group, with many traveling with extended family. Furthermore, there is a marked interest in travel to Latin America, with cultural connections influencing travel decisions.
"We are encouraged to see US Latin and Hispanic travelers embracing Airbnb and increasing their presence within our community. We’ve seen Latin and Hispanic travelers are more likely to travel with family, and in response have continued to invest in making family travel on the platform easy and seamless. Listening to the needs of our community and continuing to innovate is crucial for us as we grow and earn more trust from our guests, including those within the vibrant Latin and Hispanic Community," said Dave Stephenson, chief business officer at Airbnb.
