Uber Technologies, Inc. today announced the rollout of new safety measures designed to enhance driver security and peace of mind.

Key updates include a nationwide rider verification system, the expansion of in-app video recording to all 50 states, and the introduction of PIN verification for drivers.

“Safety is our top priority, and we’re continuously raising the bar to ensure that every trip is as secure as possible,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber.

The new rider verification measures require riders using anonymous payment methods to provide government-issued IDs. Verified riders will have a badge displayed on their profiles, giving drivers more confidence when accepting rides. Additionally, the in-app video recording feature now allows drivers across the U.S. to record trips using their phone’s front-facing camera, further enhancing safety.

These measures underscore Uber’s ongoing commitment to creating a safer environment for both drivers and riders.
