Taskrabbit has announced the expansion of its partnership with IKEA, aiming to improve the shopping and service experience for customers across North America and Europe. This development allows IKEA customers to book and pay for Taskrabbit furniture assembly tasks at the time of purchase, simplifying the process. The integration is available in major metro areas in the United States with an IKEA store, as well as nationwide in Canada, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Previously, IKEA customers could receive a quote for furniture assembly on the IKEA website but had to book and pay separately on Taskrabbit's platform. Now, customers can arrange professional assembly from Taskers directly at checkout when finalizing their orders. This change not only enhances customer convenience but also provides opportunities for Taskers to expand their business.
Initial results indicate that 50% more customers are opting for assembly through this new booking method compared to before. Additionally, purchases including assembly have seen an average order value increase by 4.7 times and a nearly 40% reduction in returns of complex furniture items.
"We’re excited to bring Taskrabbit’s assembly service to more IKEA locations," said Ania Smith, CEO of Taskrabbit. "Longer term, our goal is to scale our offering to additional retailers."
Javier Quiñones, CEO of IKEA U.S., commented on the impact: "Taskrabbit’s assembly service has been a game-changer for our customers."
Taskrabbit and IKEA plan further technology integrations aimed at enhancing customer experience. They are also exploring partnerships with other retailers globally.
Taskrabbit connects people seeking help with household tasks such as furniture assembly through its platform available in multiple countries. Acquired by Ingka Group (IKEA) in 2017, it operates in over 200 IKEA stores worldwide.
IKEA aims to offer affordable home furnishings while caring for people and the environment. Ingka Group operates numerous retail locations under franchise agreements with Inter IKEA Systems B.V., including several stores across the U.S.
