Grubhub has announced a significant restructuring following its integration with Wonder, resulting in the elimination of approximately 500 positions across various teams. The decision comes as part of Grubhub's strategy to streamline operations and align more closely with Wonder, aiming to become the primary destination for mealtime.
Howard Migdal, CEO of Grubhub, stated that this move is necessary to prioritize work effectively and execute plans with speed by reducing management layers and removing duplication. "Teaming up with Wonder has been a remarkable testament to our progress over the past year," Migdal said, highlighting the partnership's alignment with Grubhub's innovative spirit.
The company assures affected employees will receive severance packages and outplacement services. "Our priority is to support you through this transition and treat you with the respect you have earned and deserve," Migdal emphasized.
Leaders at Grubhub will hold meetings to discuss these changes further, followed by a town hall meeting in March to outline future strategies for 2025. Despite the challenges, Migdal expressed confidence in the company's potential alongside Wonder: "I am confident that, together with Wonder, we are in a strong position to disrupt the restaurant industry."
