ReFrame, an initiative launched by the Sundance Institute and WIF in 2017 to promote inclusion in the screen industries, announced that Amazon MGM Studios has received the ReFrame Stamp for more than half of its film releases in 2024. This acknowledgment indicates equitable hiring practices within these productions.
The ReFrame Report highlights that Amazon and Netflix have both increased their share of films meeting the criteria, with over 50% of their releases earning the stamp. In contrast, companies like Apple, Lionsgate, and Paramount did not have any stamped films among the top 100 popular films.
"The Stamp is an acknowledgement of equitable hiring," according to ReFrame. It is awarded to productions featuring women or individuals from other gender identities in key roles such as writer, director, producer, and several others. The selection process involved reviewing cast and crew data for all eligible films on IMDbPro's list of the 100 most popular films of 2024.
Among Amazon MGM Studios' recipients are notable titles like "Blink Twice," directed by Zoë Kravitz; "Challengers," directed by Luca Guadagnino; and "The Idea of You," directed by Michael Showalter. These feature-length fiction films produced and distributed in the U.S. reflect a commitment to inclusivity within their teams.
The criteria apply exclusively to scripted feature-length fiction films produced in the United States and do not extend to unscripted or documentary projects.
