At a glance, Harry Bosch and Renee Ballard may not seem to have much in common. However, as fans discovered with the conclusion of the third and final season of "Bosch: Legacy," both detectives have faced significant challenges in their careers.

“They form this bond working together and she recognizes aspects of herself in Harry,” said Titus Welliver, who has portrayed the character for 11 years. “And Harry sees Renee as a younger version of himself. Her tenacity is something he recognizes. It’s just like the relationship in Michael Connelly’s books. She tells Harry, ‘When you look into the darkness deep enough, it can penetrate you.’”

Welliver noted that this darkness is an intrinsic part of Harry Bosch's character. “Harry’s aware of that,” he stated. “It’s not like he discards that or is offended by what she says. He accepts that with equanimity and that is the credo."

Maggie Q stars as LAPD Detective Renee Ballard in the new series "Ballard," which premieres on July 9 on Prime Video. The show follows her character as she leads a cold-case division within the department. The cast includes Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, Ricardo Chavira, Noah Bean, Alain Uy, and Hector Hugo.

Michael Connelly serves as an executive producer alongside Henrik Bastin, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Trish Hofmann, Jet Wilkinson, and Melissa Aouate.

Jasmine Russ acts as co-executive producer under Fabel Entertainment with Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor also serving in similar roles along with Theresa Snider from Hieronymus Pictures.

Fans will be pleased to know that Bosch will appear in "Ballard." Welliver expressed his enthusiasm for Maggie Q's performance: “Maggie Q is fantastic in the role and her performance is strong enough to stand alone,” he said. “She’s an equally compelling character as Harry Bosch.”

He continued: “Maggie is a pure professional... She’s so fun to work with and hilariously funny."
