Amazon expands Upskilling 2025 with prepaid tuition, job placement support

Amazon has announced updates to its Upskilling 2025 programs, highlighting new benefits such as prepaid tuition and job placement support for over 300,000 employees. The announcement was made in a blog post by the company.

According to Amazon, the Upskilling 2025 initiative includes a $1.2 billion commitment to train 300,000 employees through programs like Career Choice. This program partners with over 600 schools in 14 countries and offers pre-paid tuition, book reimbursement, and career pathways in fields such as healthcare, technology, and transportation. More than 200,000 Amazon employees have already participated in these programs.

From 2019 to 2022, the company invested $1 billion into safety programs across its global operations. In 2024, Amazon plans to invest an additional $750 million toward enhancing workplace safety. These funds are intended to support ergonomic improvements, health and safety technology, and new training protocols aimed at reducing injuries in fulfillment centers and delivery operations.

Amazon provides comprehensive benefits to its 750,000 U.S. employees. These include health care from day one of employment, up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave, a 401(k) plan with a 50% company match, and free skills training. The benefits extend to family members and domestic partners and include mental health services, fertility services, and early wage access through Anytime Pay.

The company operates across more than 20 countries and runs a range of businesses from e-commerce and cloud computing to logistics and entertainment. Its workforce includes corporate staff as well as fulfillment and delivery network employees.
