Uber has announced the launch of Hope Rides, a partnership with Alliance for HOPE International. This initiative will provide more than $250,000 in ride credits to assist survivors in reaching Family Justice Centers across nine states.
According to Uber, transportation has long been recognized as a critical barrier that prevents survivors of interpersonal violence from accessing support services. Many struggle to reach trauma-informed care, legal assistance, or safe housing due to the lack of reliable transportation. The Hope Rides program aims to address this challenge by partnering with Alliance for HOPE International to offer safe rides to essential resources for those most in need.
Uber is distributing over $250,000 in ride credits through Hope Rides among 15 Family Justice Centers located in nine states. These centers provide comprehensive support, including trauma-informed care, legal aid, housing resources, and counseling under one roof to better serve survivors. By formalizing and expanding access to transportation, Uber intends to eliminate one of the most common barriers faced by those seeking help.
Tony West, Uber’s Chief Legal Officer, said that "Hope Rides is more than transportation—it’s a lifeline," highlighting the program's potential impact on providing survivors with access to safety and support. Casey Gwinn, President of Alliance for HOPE International, emphasized that many survivors do not seek help because they cannot reach lifesaving services and noted that transportation can be crucial for their safety. The partnership aims to meet survivors where they are and expand Uber's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations.
