Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) has announced an expanded collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) aimed at improving solutions for space mission applications. The partnership will integrate AWS Ground Station capabilities into KSAT’s commercial offerings, providing customers with seamless access to both KSAT’s global satellite ground station network and AWS’s cloud services.

According to the companies, this integration is expected to transform the satellite ground station industry by offering a higher level of service integration and enhancing KSAT’s ability to deliver scalable and resilient services worldwide. The collaboration will also allow KSAT to increase its global ground network reach, offering improved direct-to-cloud connectivity and secure access to AWS tools for space mission operators through a unified interface.

KSAT plans to extend its services to new and existing commercial mission customers by enabling rapid onboarding through unified interfaces. Customers will benefit from 24x7 on-call support as well as advanced services such as Launch and Early Orbit (LEOP) support.

"This expanded partnership with AWS shows continued focus within KSAT to lead the way in satellite communications and ground station services,” said Rolf Skatteboe, CEO of KSAT. “By integrating AWS Ground Station with our own globally distributed infrastructure, we’re able to offer more connectivity, enhancing our unmatched customer support offerings, at scale. AWS is the leader in cloud enabled solutions for space missions, and bringing together our capabilities is powerful."

Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Clint Crosier, Director of AWS Aerospace and Satellite, commented: “KSAT has been a recognized leader in commercial ground station network offerings for decades. By deepening our work with KSAT, we combine the best of both organizations into a powerful and unique solution, marking not just a shift for our customers but for the industry at large. The full range of AWS capabilities, coupled with KSAT’s focus on commercial ground connectivity, provide space customers with enhanced resilience and innovation beyond what’s available today—driving both mission and business success. We are setting a new standard for the future of satellite communications and cloud integration.”

The combined expertise from both organizations aims to open new opportunities in satellite data processing, low latency data delivery, and mission operations.

Kongsberg Satellite Services operates over 40 locations worldwide with more than 200 multi-mission antennas supporting various communication needs across commercial, government, and defense sectors.
