Amazon Web Services (AWS) and WinZO, a leading social gaming platform in India, are expanding their collaboration to scale WinZO’s Global Center of Excellence (GCoE). The GCoE was launched in November 2024 with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
The initiative focuses on supporting entrepreneurs in India’s interactive entertainment sector by using generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) technologies. Through AWS Gen AI solutions, the GCoE aims to help Indian game studios build and scale games more efficiently. It also seeks to enhance local gaming talent through cloud mentoring and training programs from AWS.
India’s gaming industry is experiencing significant growth. It is expected to increase from $3.7 billion in 2024 to $9.1 billion by 2029. Globally, gaming now surpasses movies and music combined, representing a $324 billion industry.
WinZO’s GCoE will utilize AWS services such as Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker to drive innovation in game development. Amazon Bedrock will be used for building customer support platforms that provide instant translations across 12 languages through AI assistants, ensuring quick support for players nationwide. The technology will also enable faster testing of games through automation and data analytics, potentially reducing content development cycles by up to 25%.
Amazon SageMaker will assist developers in creating personalized user experiences by recommending tailored content based on player behavior.
To address the need for skilled professionals, WinZO offers free training programs via AWS Training and Certification as part of its GCoE initiatives. Members also benefit from the AWS Skills to Job Tech Alliance in India, which connects employers with trained candidates prepared for technology roles.
The GCoE supports early-stage Indian gaming startups through accelerator programs offering cloud credits, mentorship, go-to-market support, and workshops on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Earlier this year at Startup Mahakumbh 2025, WinZO highlighted Indian game developers at its Gaming Pavilion event.
WinZO has also launched a hackathon series called WinZO IGNITE with AWS aimed at solving key technological challenges facing the sector.
“At WinZO, we believe India is poised to lead the next wave of global gaming innovation by leveraging its true strengths – youth, creativity, and scale,” said Paavan Nanda, Co-founder of WinZO. “Through our Global Center of Excellence, and in collaboration with AWS, we’re building a platform that empowers developers to create immersive, safe, and inclusive gaming experiences using generative AI. This initiative is unlocking opportunities and showcasing the potential of India’s digital economy to the world.”
“India’s gaming industry is thriving on the cloud, and WinZO is a trailblazer in harnessing generative AI to reimagine gaming experiences at a global scale,” said Satinder Pal Singh, Director, Solution Architecture, AWS India and South Asia. “WinZO’s long-term collaboration with AWS to scale its Global Center of Excellence is not only accelerating innovation in entertainment and personalized gaming but also strengthening India’s position as a global talent and technology hub.”
