Airbnb reported its financial results for the second quarter of 2025, noting growth in bookings, revenue, and margins. The company said travel demand increased from April to July despite earlier global economic uncertainty.
Brian Chesky, Airbnb Co-Founder and CEO, stated: “We had a strong Q2, exceeding expectations across our key metrics, which reflects the progress we’ve made against our priorities, including unveiling Airbnb’s next chapter. We’re excited by the early momentum behind the launch of Airbnb services and reimagined Airbnb experiences, and believe both will be key contributors to long-term growth.”
The company highlighted its multi-year strategy focused on improving its core service, growing in global markets, and introducing new offerings. In the core service area, Airbnb attributed revenue gains to enhancements in checkout processes, messaging systems, merchandising options, and flexible payment methods. The rollout of an AI-powered customer service agent to all U.S. users led to a 15% reduction in the need for human support among hosts and guests. Expansion of this AI service to more countries and languages is planned later this year.
In terms of international growth, nights booked in expansion markets have grown at about twice the rate of those in core markets for six straight quarters. This trend was partly credited to efforts aimed at product-market fit and increased brand awareness in specific countries such as Japan. A recent domestic travel campaign there contributed to an acceleration in nights booked by Japanese travelers during Q2 compared with Q1 and resulted in a 15% year-over-year rise in first-time bookers.
Airbnb also expanded beyond traditional stays with the May launch of Airbnb Services and reimagined Experiences. An updated app now allows booking of stays, experiences, and services through one platform. The company noted positive feedback from guests as well as high interest from potential hosts for these new offerings.
Chesky added: “We’re excited by the early momentum behind the launch of Airbnb services and reimagined Airbnb experiences, and believe both will be key contributors to long-term growth.”
The company said it sees these developments as important drivers for sustainable future growth.
