This includes the Unlocking Benefits for Independent Workers Act, which aims to establish a safe harbor under federal law for companies wishing to voluntarily provide benefits. Other proposed legislation includes the Modern Worker Empowerment Act, the Association Health Plans Act, and the Independent Retirement Fairness Act.
Sharp expressed appreciation for Senators Cassidy and Scott's leadership in supporting independent workers. She said that these bills are significant steps toward removing legal barriers that hinder extending benefits to independent contractors. Flex intends to continue collaborating with lawmakers at both federal and state levels to ensure workers can maintain flexibility while pursuing their preferred work.
