The Conjuring film series, which began in 2013, has become the most successful horror franchise at the box office. The movies center on Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life paranormal investigators who deal with supernatural cases involving spirits and cursed objects.
Prime Video currently offers seven main films from The Conjuring universe. These can be rented or purchased individually, or watched through an HBO Max add-on subscription. The original movie, "The Conjuring" (2013), introduces viewers to the Warrens as they help a Rhode Island family troubled by a dark presence. This was followed by "Annabelle" (2014), which tells the origin story of the haunted doll Annabelle.
"The Conjuring 2" (2016) sees the Warrens travel to London for the Enfield Poltergeist case, where they encounter Valak, known as The Demon Nun. "Annabelle: Creation" (2017) serves as a prequel about how Annabelle came into existence and unleashed evil after a dollmaker's personal tragedy.
In "The Nun" (2018), characters investigate mysterious events at an abbey in Romania, further exploring Valak’s background. This installment became the highest-grossing entry in the franchise so far. "Annabelle Comes Home" (2019) focuses on efforts to contain Annabelle within the Warrens’ artifacts room, but her presence awakens other spirits that threaten their daughter.
"The Curse of La Llorona" (2019) is also available on Prime Video; while not officially part of The Conjuring timeline according to producer Peter Safran, it features some crossover characters such as Father Perez.
"The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" (2021) dramatizes a real court case where demonic possession was used as a legal defense for murder charges against Arne Cheyenne Johnson.
Finally, "The Nun II" (2023) continues Sister Irene’s confrontation with Valak in France during 1956.
All these films are accessible for rent or purchase on Prime Video or via an HBO Max add-on subscription.
Prime Video also provides access to other horror titles and franchises beyond The Conjuring universe. Subscribers can watch Amazon Originals like Them and Truth Seekers, as well as popular horror films such as The Grudge (2004), The Exorcists (2023), every Final Destination movie, Halloween classics, and new releases like Sinners. Thousands of hours of horror content are available with a standard Prime Video membership.
