Amazon has announced new additions to its eero product line, aiming to improve internet connectivity for both homes and businesses. The latest offerings include eero Signal, a device designed to maintain network connections during internet outages by using cellular backup, and eero PoE 7, a Wi-Fi 7 access point that utilizes Power-over-Ethernet technology.
“With tens of millions of eero devices powering homes and businesses across more than 27 countries, we know how fast and reliable connectivity has to be for households to enjoy downtime whether it’s streaming movies and shows or playing online games with friends, make remote work easy, and keep point-of-sale systems online,” said Nick Weaver, CEO and co-founder of eero. “That’s why we’re excited to introduce two new devices today. Customers have relied on eero Internet Backup to stay online using a hotspot, and now we’re introducing eero Signal, our first device dedicated to keeping households and businesses online during an internet outage. And we now have a comprehensive Wi-Fi 7 lineup with the addition of eero PoE 7, which offers bandwidth-demanding businesses and residences an easy-to-install wired solution to meet their connectivity needs.”
eero Signal is compatible with any USB-C powered eero device supporting Wi-Fi 6 or higher. It will be available in both 4G LTE and 5G models. When an internet outage occurs, the device automatically switches to cellular backup. Access to backup data is included in annual subscriptions for eero Plus customers; these subscribers receive up to 10 GB per year at no extra cost. Those needing more can opt for the eero Plus 100 plan for up to 100 GB per month.
For those requiring high-speed wired solutions, the new eero PoE 7 access point supports wireless speeds up to 3.9 Gbps and wired speeds up to 9.4 Gbps via two 10 GbE ports. The unit provides coverage for up to 2,000 square feet and can connect up to 200 devices simultaneously. It also functions as a smart home hub compatible with Matter, Thread, and Zigbee protocols.
The company will also enable professional installers later this year to offer subscriptions such as eero Plus or eero Business directly when setting up customer networks.
eero Signal's 4G LTE model will be priced at $99.99 in the US through Amazon.com and other select providers early next year; the 5G version will follow in 2026 at $199. The annual subscription pricing remains unchanged at $99.99 per year for basic backup data service or $199.99 annually for increased monthly data limits under the Plus 100 plan.
eero PoE 7 is expected in November through select channels in the US and Canada before broader availability later in the year via Amazon.com.
eero was established in San Francisco in 2014 with a focus on providing user-friendly networking hardware and software solutions for various settings including homes, businesses, communities, and service providers.
It should be noted that both the eero Signal 5G model and the eero PoE 7 are pending authorization from the Federal Communications Commission before they can be sold or leased in accordance with regulatory requirements.
