The Domestic Shelters organization has announced a new partnership with Uber to launch "Hope Rides," a program aimed at expanding access to support services at 15 Family Justice Centers across the United States.

According to Uber's Newsroom, the Hope Rides initiative is part of the company's broader commitment to enhancing safety for women and vulnerable groups. This program formalizes the previously informal use of rideshare services by survivors, extending access through a structured support system. "Hope Rides is part of Uber’s ongoing commitment to improving safety for women and vulnerable populations—on and off the platform," says Uber, offering various tools from reporting mechanisms to educational campaigns.

Uber is providing free rides through Hope Rides at 15 Family Justice Centers in nine states, removing transportation barriers for those seeking critical support. These centers co-locate legal, medical, counseling, and social services under one roof, streamlining access for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other abuses. The Alliance for HOPE International explains that "through this initiative, Uber will provide free rides to 15 Family Justice Centers (FJCs) across nine states for survivors to access critical services" by delivering trauma-informed comprehensive care.

Flexible Work News reports that Uber has committed over $250,000 in ride credits to support this program. This funding enables safe and reliable transportation to shelters, counseling sessions, legal assistance, and emergency resources without financial burden on the survivors.

Domestic Shelters is a national nonprofit focused on helping individuals impacted by domestic violence find shelter and support. According to its official About page, DomesticShelters.org offers the largest searchable directory of domestic violence programs and shelters in the U.S. and Canada along with educational resources, toolkits, and awareness campaigns.
