Airbnb is marking the third anniversary of its Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition (TSAC), a group established in 2022 to enhance community safety on the platform. The coalition consists of more than 20 external experts specializing in areas such as global health policy, human trafficking prevention, law enforcement engagement, and fraud detection.
Since its inception, TSAC has supported over 80 trust and safety initiatives. In 2025, Airbnb expects to double the number of initiatives compared to the previous year.
Recent projects include an in-app water safety feature developed with Safe Kids Worldwide. This tool provides guests with water safety tips and prompts questions they can ask hosts about pool or water-related protections at listings. Additionally, Airbnb worked with Safe Kids Worldwide to deliver educational sessions on water safety for more than 250 hosts in Florida and partnered with the International Association of Fire Chiefs to promote fire and carbon monoxide safety for hosts in Massachusetts.
In partnership with Polaris, Airbnb provided human trafficking awareness training for hosts ahead of a major event in New Orleans. Collaborative efforts with organizations like Protect All Children from Trafficking (PACT) and the International Center for Missing & Exploited Children were recognized by the US Chamber of Commerce.
Employee education is also a focus area. TSAC partners such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and National Network to End Domestic Violence trained Airbnb staff on identifying child sexual exploitation and intimate partner violence. Polaris also assisted in updating mandatory human trafficking prevention training for all employees globally.
Airbnb has strengthened relationships with law enforcement by hosting trainings worldwide on using its dedicated law enforcement portal to support investigations and neighborhood safety efforts.
Safe Kids Worldwide President Torine Creppy stated: “We’re excited to continue to partner with Airbnb to help families get the information and resources they need to support their planning, and to ensure that when they get to their destination, kids are staying safe while having fun.”
Polaris Chief Executive Officer Megan Lundstrom said: “Airbnb continues to demonstrate what true partnership looks like – grounding safety efforts not just in compliance, but in a real understanding of how trafficking evolves across platforms. Polaris is proud to collaborate on prevention strategies that reflect the complexity of modern exploitation and center survivor-informed solutions. Their commitment to transparency and collaboration strengthens our shared work.”
Tara Bunch, Airbnb Global Head of Operations, commented: “Collaborating closely with experts in trust and safety has led to meaningful improvements across Airbnb – for our hosts, guests, team members, and all the communities we serve. We are grateful for the invaluable partnership of this coalition, and we will continue to deepen our work together as part of our longstanding commitment to and investment in community safety.”
The company emphasized that TSAC’s ongoing progress highlights the value of expert input on community safety issues.
