Fans of the cult classic "This Is Spinal Tap" will soon be able to watch both the original film and its new sequel, "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues," on Prime Video. The much-anticipated follow-up to Rob Reiner’s 1984 mockumentary brings back Michael McKean as David St. Hubbins, Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel, and Harry Shearer as Derek Smalls. These actors reprise their roles as members of the fictional heavy metal band Spinal Tap, who are depicted reuniting after 15 years for a final performance.
Rob Reiner returns as director and also appears in his role as documentarian Marty DiBergi. The sequel was co-written by Guest, McKean, Shearer, and Reiner. Additional appearances include Stormy Daniels, Questlove, Chad Smith, Lars Ulrich, among others.
To watch "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues," viewers can search for the title on Prime Video when it becomes available on Tuesday, September 30. The film will cost $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to buy; preorders are currently open. Rentals provide users with 30 days to begin watching and 48 hours to finish once started. A Prime membership is not required—any customer can rent or purchase titles from the Prime Video store.
The original "This Is Spinal Tap" is also available on Prime Video at $5.99 for rental and $14.99 for purchase. The film follows filmmaker Marty DiBergi documenting Spinal Tap’s U.S. tour during a period of waning popularity marked by various mishaps.
