Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of AWS Cloud Institute, a virtual training program aimed at preparing learners for cloud developer roles with artificial intelligence (AI) expertise. The program is designed to be completed in as little as nine months through coursework, labs, and capstone projects.
According to Amazon’s newsroom, the AWS Cloud Institute was developed in response to a global shortage of technology training opportunities. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023 notes that only 50% of workers have access to adequate reskilling programs. AWS explained that the curriculum was created with input from employers seeking cloud-skilled talent, ensuring alignment with workforce demand. The program aims to democratize access to cloud and AI careers, offering a pathway for learners regardless of prior work or educational background.
As described in Amazon’s announcement, AWS Cloud Institute provides nine self-paced digital courses, more than 100 interactive labs, and two capstone projects that simulate solving real-world business problems. Learners build and present working applications using AWS services and Python, creating a portfolio that demonstrates technical skills to employers. The program also includes three vouchers for industry-recognized certifications—AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, and AWS Certified Developer Associate—helping graduates validate their expertise.
According to Amazon, the program costs $5,670 plus tax, reflecting a 25% reduction from the prior $7,560 price. This makes it more accessible. Learners may choose between full-time or part-time enrollment, completing the program in as little as nine months or up to 27 months depending on pace. Amazon noted that monthly installment options provide financial flexibility to meet diverse learner needs.

AWS reports that it has trained more than 31 million people globally in cloud and AI skills through programs like AWS Educate, AWS re/Start, and AWS Skills Centers.
