Amazon announced it will hire 250,000 people across the United States for the upcoming holiday season, with positions available in both urban and rural areas. The company said these roles include full-time, part-time, and seasonal jobs within its fulfillment and transportation network.
Regular employees at Amazon earn an average of $23 per hour and receive benefits. Seasonal workers can expect to make over $19 per hour on average. New job opportunities are posted weekly from October through December on the company's job site.
"Seasonal roles offer great pay, flexible schedules, and the chance to be a part of a team that makes a real difference during the holidays. For those who then stay on in regular full-time roles, the opportunities expand even further, with access to a range of benefits including health care and education programs like Career Choice—where we’ll pre-pay tuition for our teammates to earn college degrees or certificates, helping them build their careers for the long term (whether with us or another company). Seasonal employees also see their pay go up significantly as they grow with us—someone who’s been with us for three years has already seen their pay go up an average of 18%."
The company is investing more than $1 billion this year to increase wages and reduce health care costs for its U.S. fulfillment and transportation staff. When factoring in elected benefits, Amazon reports that total compensation now exceeds $30 per hour.
